Workshop on Macroalgal Culturing Techniques


Period: From 5 to 7 February, 2020

Participants: Three graduate students from two universities (Master course of Nagasaki University, Japan and Ph.D course of Sungkyunkwan University, South Korea).

Workshop on Macroalgal Culturing Techniques was held from February 5 to 7, 2020. A total of three graduate students (Master course and Ph.D course) from two countries including Japan and South Korea attended the course. The course conducted in English. The course consisted of field sampling, isolation of unialgal cultures from macroalgal tissues and reproductive cells, preparation of culture media, maintenance of macroalgal cultures, and cryopreservation of macroalgal cultures. The lecture and field sampling were conducted at the Marine Site of Kobe University. The other laboratory activities were conducted at the Rokkodai Campus of Kobe University.
