-Welcome to Laboratory of Geotechnical Engineering for Agriculture -

Agriculture is essential for us to live, and it is water that supports agriculture. In the Geotechnical Engineering for Agriculture Laboratory, our main research targets are pipelines and open channels for carrying precious agricultural water, and agricultural irrigation facilities such as dams and reservoirs.

To create sustainable agriculture and a beautiful and secure environment for rural areas, we are working every day on various issues from structural problems of agricultural irrigation facilities to disaster prevention measures.

The laboratory has many interactions with external organizations such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and Hyogo Prefecture. We are unique in that we carry research themes directly related to actual sites or that require urgent investigation. In addition, large-scale experiments are sometimes conducted at the National Institute for Rural Engineering and Columbia University in N.Y.

Since our education and research program is scheduled towards progressing to graduate school, at the end of the third year of undergraduate, students prepare for academic conferences with seniors, and in the fourth year, they present their research at the conference mixed with businesspeople. Furthermore, some students give presentations abroad at international conferences. As the progress speed is very fast, it is essential that you are not only motivated but also have a good understanding of the basic technical subjects.
