Graduate School of Engineering of Kobe University has eight research institutes attached to the Graduate School of Engineering with a view to creating industry-university cooperation and the creation of new academic fields, and in order to play a leading role worldwide, various research fields active achievement is expected. Medical Device Fabrication Engineering Center (MeDFEC) is one of the eight attached centers of Graduate School of Engineering, and aims to create a new medical device based on medical engineering research.
Currently, foreign-made implant devices and medical systems are often used in Japan, and the creation of domestic medical devices is considered to be an urgent social requirement. MeDFEC promotes educational and research activities with the goal of achieving the realization of the research seeds of the Graduate School of Engineering to create a medical device to be used.

Intent and purpose of MeDFEC

MeDFEC promotes basic research in engineering for the creation of medical devices and applied research to embody devices that can withstand clinical application, and leads new research fields. We mainly focus on the following educational and research activities.

(1) In order to respond to requests from medical fields, we promote applied research to embody new devices that can withstand clinical application while establishing collaboration with medical researchers.

(2) We promote basic research in engineering for medical device creation and lead new learning and research areas.

(3) By collaborating with medical equipment manufacturing and sales companies and university-based start-up companies, we accelerate development for social implementation of research results from Kobe University.
