Chamber for Student Training Experiments /
Ion Beam Irradiation

M15 chember
Chamber for Student Training Experiments / Ion Beam Irradiation (old)

Objective to have students learn the fundamentals of particle beam engineering:
They study the production and acceleration of charged particle beams, and the scattering by Coulomb field, the typical interaction of the charged particles with matter.
What is done? demonstration of Rutherford scattering:
Using 0.3-3 MeV proton beams, incident on a several-hundred nm thick gold on a polymer film, they measure angular dependences of the energy and the yield of scattered protons.
