Use of KURCIS Research Facilities

All KURCIS professors hold concurrent posts in the related Kobe University faculties and the Graduate School of Science and Technology, and participate in lecture courses for undergraduate and graduate students. We support the research programs of undergraduate and graduate students majoring in biology, earth sciences, and environmental sciences, promoting their research projects by providing use of our facilities and expertise. Users can stay in Marine Site and carry out their own research projects using the facilities.

In the Marine Biodiversity Section, the major research topics are biodiversity and function of marine organisms. We provide courses on field sampling, snorkeling, chromatographic and spectrophotometric analyses, molecular analyses, and morphological observations using various microscopes. In the Marine Geophysics section, the major research topics are geological analyses of marine sediments. We provide courses on microfossils, and magnetic analyses of environmental sediments. In the Environmental Biochemistry section, the major research topics are environmental management and control for coastal areas. We provide courses of on the investigation of seawater parameters using bioassays and chemical analyses. The research vessel "Onokoro" is available for sampling.
