GEPP Co-hosted an International Seminar on “Education Policy, Planning and Implementation in Lao PDR”

On August 6, 2026, the International Seminar on Global Governance for Human Security was held under the theme "Education Policy, Planning and Implementation in Lao PDR." The seminar was co-organized by the Global Research Center for Education Policy and Planning (GEPP), the Kobe University UNESCO Chair, the Global Network Program, and the CAMPUS Asia Plus Program, and was conducted online.

The seminar featured Mr. Anoupheng Keovongsa, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Planning and Finance, Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES), Lao PDR, as the guest speaker. In his lecture, he provided an overview of the current status and key challenges of education policy in Lao PDR, while outlining the future direction of educational reform under the Education Sector Strategic and Sustainable Development Plan (ESSSDP) 2026–2030. He highlighted major policy priorities, including improving the quality and equity of education, strengthening teacher education and professional development, enhancing education financing, reinforcing monitoring and evaluation systems, and promoting effective governance. He also introduced the government's comprehensive vision for education, covering all levels of the education system from early childhood education to technical and vocational education and training (TVET) and higher education. Furthermore, he discussed efforts to promote inclusive education for vulnerable learners, including ethnic minority children, children with disabilities, and those living in rural and remote areas, as well as initiatives to expand the use of digital technologies in education and strengthen collaboration with international development partners, including the World Bank.
