GEPP co-hosted an International Seminar “Grant Writing”
On May 20, 2026, an International Seminar on Global Governance for Human Security titled “Grant Writing” was held. The seminar was co-organized by Kobe University’s UNESCO Chair, the Global Research Center for Education Policy and Planning (GEPP) at the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies, Kobe University, the Global Network Program, and the CAMPUS Asia Plus Program, and was conducted in a hybrid format.
The seminar welcomed Professor Nathan Murata, Dean of the College of Education at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. In his lecture, Professor Murata discussed the types and characteristics of research grants, the use of research funds, the basic structure of competitive grant proposals, and effective ways to summarize research plans. The lecture highlighted the importance of clearly defining research problems and presenting research objectives, methods, and expected outcomes in a logical and concise manner.
A total of 62 students, faculty, and staff members participated in the seminar, with 43 attending in person and 19 joining online. During the Q&A session, participants raised active questions from diverse perspectives, including key points in preparing grant applications, budget planning, and the evaluation of research funding. The seminar provided participants with a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of research funding.
